Brodrick Collection

Title

Brodrick Collection

Description

This is a collection of over 100 photographs taken by an unknown friend of Captain George Brodrick when they toured Ireland together in 1937. Photographs include scenes in Connaught (Kylemore Abbey) and Leinster (Kilbeggan Distillery).

Captain George [Sinclair Gould] Brodrick MBE was the grandson of the American railway magnate Jason (Jay) Gould, once the richest man in the world. His mother Guinevere Sinclair was Irish (her grandfather Sir Edward Sinclair had been provost of Trinity College Dublin), and Brodrick himself joined the Irish Guards after graduating from university.

More information on Captain Brodrick can be found in this obituary from the Telegraph.
